Job Description

Ophthalmic Technician Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care through accurate ophthalmic examinations, diagnostic testing, and efficient management of medical records. This role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmology, medical terminology, and clinical procedures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality eye care in a professional and confidential environment. Duties Conduct neuro-ophthalmic and comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, tonometry, pupil exam, and confrontation VFs. Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment and other medical devices with precision - visual fields, OCT, fundus photography. Assist ophthalmologists during patient assessments and procedures while maintaining aseptic techniques. Collect vital signs and intake information to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems accurately, ensuring compliance with medical records policies. Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies. Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and post-examination care instructions. Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information as needed. Ensure clinical areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye care. Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography (can be taught). Proficiency in EHR management. Excellent patient service skills with a focus on direct patient care and effective communication. Ability to perform ophthalmic patient examinations accurately and efficiently. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during clinical procedures. Experience with optical assessments including refraction. Ability to operate medical equipment safely and troubleshoot basic technical issues. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and documentation. Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while providing compassionate patient care. Pay:
$18.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
