Our team blends clinical excellence with a warm, welcoming environment—and we're looking for a motivated student to join us as an Optometric Assistant Intern. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain real-world experience across all facets of optometric care, from front desk operations to patient interaction and optical sales.
Position Overview:
As an Optometric Assistant Intern, you'll play a key role in supporting both the doctor and the office team. You'll gain exposure to clinical workflows, patient care, and retail operations—making this an ideal role for students pursuing careers in optometry, healthcare, or customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients and manage front desk operations with professionalism and warmth Verify insurance benefits and assist with patient intake and scheduling Perform pre-testing procedures including auto-refraction, tonometry, and visual acuity screenings Assist the optometrist during exams and patient flow coordination Guide patients in frame selection and lens options based on lifestyle and prescription needs Maintain cleanliness and organization of the optical and exam areas Support inventory management and product displays Learn and uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards Contribute to a positive, team-oriented office culture
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in college or university (pre-optometry, health sciences, or related field preferred) preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and take initiative Comfortable working with technology and learning new systems Prior customer service or retail experience is a plus, but not required
