Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optician / Optometric Technician, where you will enhance patient care and streamline clinical operations. In this role, you will support the optometrist by preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, frame styling, ordering/managing optical orders and managing medical records. Our goal is to ensure a smooth patient experience from intake to checkout. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in both optometry and medical assisting within a fast-paced, patient-centered setting. Duties Greet patients warmly, perform patient intake, and accurately document medical histories using EMR (we use Crystal PM) Prepare patients for eye exams by conducting preliminary tests like visual acuity, OCT, visual fields and autorefractor measurements. Assist with optical procedures, including fitting glasses, frame styling, contact lens training, adjusting eyewear, and educating patients on lens care. Maintain proper cleaning technique during exam room setup and equipment sterilization to ensure infection control standards are upheld. Manage medical records, ensuring HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and handling patient inquiries professionally. Contribute to retail sales efforts by educating patients on eyewear options and completing retail transactions with retail math accuracy. Training in areas is available if needed. Sale/processing of patient treatments, educating patients on dry eye treatments/in office treatments. Speak with patients on the phone regarding binocular vision dysfunction and exam to encourage them to proceed with booking their appointments Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred; familiarity with EMR systems is a plus. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and ophthalmic principles to support accurate patient assessments. Demonstrated ability to perform patient care tasks and intake procedures confidently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Experience with optical procedures or retail sales of eyewear is mandatory, but additional training is offered if needed. Excellent communication skills for front desk interactions and patient education efforts. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism. Basic understanding of medical billing, coding practices, and EMR systems like Epic will enhance your effectiveness in this role. Office Hours :
Monday 8:30am-4pm Tuesday 8:30am-4pm Wednesday OFF Thursday 8:30am-4pm Friday 8:30am-1pm •If interested in full-time position, hours will be extended for administrative time/dry eye treatment/dispense hours•
Pay :
Pay scale is determined by level of experience in optometric field, or ability to do multiple jobs within the office.
