Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our dynamic eye care team. In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in providing exceptional patient care through comprehensive ophthalmic examinations, diagnostic testing, and patient education. Your expertise will ensure accurate data collection, proper operation of specialized ophthalmic equipment, and adherence to clinical confidentiality policies. Responsibilities Perform ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity testing, eye refraction, and intraocular pressure measurements using tonometry. Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as retinal imaging. Assist with patient intake procedures by collecting medical histories, and updating electronic health records (EHR/EHR). Ensure all clinical procedures are conducted following aseptic techniques to maintain patient safety and prevent infections. Support optometrists during examinations by preparing the exam room, handling medical equipment, and documenting findings accurately. Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies when managing medical records and patient information. Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring a comfortable experience for every patient. Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical office setting with a focus on ophthalmology or optometry is highly preferred. Proficiency in medical terminology and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR) management systems. Experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as retinal imaging, phoropters, and tonometers. Ability to perform direct patient care with compassion while maintaining professionalism at all times. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills combined with attention to detail; retail math skills are a plus for inventory management of optical supplies.
