In person Position Overview We are seeking a skilled and dependable Optometric Technician to support our providers by performing a wide range of clinical and patient care functions. This role is essential to ensuring efficient clinic flow, accurate data collection, and a professional, confidence-inspiring patient experience. The Optometric Technician reports to the Office Managers. Responsibilities & Duties Prepare and maintain exam rooms, including disinfecting and restocking equipment and supplies between patients Monitor inventory levels, verify stock, and recommend disposal of expired supplies Collect and accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record Manage patient flow and scheduling by communicating effectively with providers and team members Perform pre-testing and diagnostic testing, including but not limited to: Auto-refraction, lensometry, tonometry, and corneal topography Visual acuities, phoropter use, color vision testing, and drop instillation Visual fields, fundus photography, OCT, and pachymetry Obtain preliminary case histories, including current medical conditions Educate patients on contact lens care, including insertion and removal training for new wearers Manage contact lens orders, insurance benefits, manufacturer orders, patient quotes, and payment collection Notify patients when contact lens orders are ready Prepare referrals, prescriptions (for provider signature), school/work excuse letters, and consult letters Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence and referrals Retrieve outside medical records prior to patient appointments Respond to technician phone lines, emails, and in-person patient inquiries as needed Perform additional duties as assigned Knowledge & Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with providers, coworkers, and patients Highly proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs Professional maturity, diplomacy, and tact when handling complex or challenging situations Understanding of federal and state healthcare regulations Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity Attendance & Punctuality Expectations Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position Employees are expected to arrive on time and be fully prepared to work for all scheduled shifts Reliable attendance is critical to patient care, clinic operations, and team success Qualifications Previous experience in a medical or optometric environment preferred Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience Optometry experience required (1 year) State Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant license preferred High school diploma or equivalent required (certification not required) Schedule 8- or 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday Weekends as needed (up to two per year) How to Apply Please submit your resume in PDF format for consideration.
