Overview We are seeking a dependable and adaptable Optometric Floater to support our team across both front desk and clinical areas. This position will assist with daily administrative responsibilities, including patient check-in, scheduling, phones, and other front office duties, while also providing support with pretesting and other clinical tasks as needed. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This individual should be willing to learn, able to transition easily between responsibilities, and committed to providing professional, friendly, and efficient patient care. Responsibilities Greet patients and provide friendly, professional customer service Assist with patient check-in and check-out Answer phones and assist with scheduling appointments Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information Assist with paperwork and other front desk administrative duties Perform pretesting and assist with other clinical duties as needed Operate and maintain familiarity with basic ophthalmic diagnostic equipment after appropriate training Keep patient areas and workspaces clean, organized, and prepared for the day Communicate effectively with doctors and other team members to ensure an efficient patient flow Assist other areas of the practice as needed Follow all practice policies and procedures, including patient privacy and confidentiality requirements Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented attitude Participate in training and learn additional responsibilities as needed Skills Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality in all interactions preferred Experience with intake processes and basic ophthalmic examinations preferred Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as tonometers, A-scan devices, and ophthalmic diagnostic imaging tools preferred Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/Epic) management for accurate documentation preferred Understanding of medical terminology related to ophthalmology and physiology of the eye preferred Ability to perform direct patient care with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to ensure compliance during all procedures Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members in a fast-paced environment This role offers an exciting opportunity to grow your skills in both optometry and medical office operations while making a meaningful difference in patients' lives.
