Byron Eye Care is a primary optometry practice that prides itself on strong patient relationships and excellence. Our opticians work closely with our patients and doctors.
Requirements:
An outgoing personality, someone who thrives in a team environment, shows compassion, has great prioritization skills, and understands the importance of details. The role is primarily focused on patients and their visual needs while demonstrating how we love eyes, care about the people behind them, and deliver an exceptional patient experience so they feel confident seeing with their eyewear. The ideal candidate will have experience or an interest in optical with outstanding people skills. We are willing to train! Collaborate with optometrists in patient hand off after their eye exam to educate patients about doctor recommendations on their prescription and their visual needs Guiding patients on frame selection for proper fit, style, and comfort based off interpretation of their prescription and patient preference Educating patients on lenses and lens treatments that benefit their visual needs and taking accurate measurements to place an eyeglass order to send to the lab Working with patient's vision insurance plans to maximize their benefits Final inspection of eyeglass orders on lensometer and then notifying patients Dispensing eyeglasses with proper adjustments and making sure vision is correct Adjustments and repairs using optical tools and equipment Maintaining accurate patient records and optical orders Proficiency in navigating EHR/PMS systems Complete and maintain HIPAA compliance Help maintain the office appearance at all times Scheduling appointments and answering phone with professional phone etiquette Help maintain accurate frame inventory Teaching new contact wearers how to insert and remove contact lenses Staying informed on industry and new technology Opticians must have willingness to continuously learn!
Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent, one year or more experience working in customer service, sales, secretarial, medical or office settings (optical preferred) or related role. Must be self-directed, detail-oriented, highly organized, ability to multi-task, have basic math and science skills, flexibility to adapt to changes, have manual dexterity, have professional attitude and appearance, ability to communicate effectively, and strong clerical aptitude. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with a commitment to quality and excellence in service. Certification (preferred): ABO Certified. Knowledge of basic optics is preferred but not required. We provide supervised on the job training and study materials to take ABO test to get certified within 2 years of hire date. Reimbursement of the ABO exam cost if you pass along with a pay raise.
