The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of optical sciences, patient care, and retail operations. As an Optician, you will be responsible for assisting patients with eyewear selections, performing fittings, and ensuring compliance with health regulations while providing exceptional customer service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on improving vision health and delivering personalized optical solutions. Duties Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear based on prescriptions, lifestyle needs, and personal preferences, ensuring proper fit and comfort. Dispense spectacle lenses and perform eyewear fittings with precision, adjusting frames for optimal comfort and alignment. Maintain accurate medical records and document patient interactions in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Revolution or similar platforms. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, explaining lens options, and guiding patients through their purchase decisions. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinic-specific confidentiality policies to protect patient information. Manage retail sales transactions using POS system and vision billing procedures. Stay informed about current health regulation policies, state healthcare regulations, and medical coding standards related to optometry practices. Collaborate with optometrists and healthcare professionals to support clinical workflows within the clinic setting. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, optics, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye care. Experience with optical laboratory processes including spectacle lens dispensing, frame adjustment, and eyewear fittings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Revolution or similar platforms for managing medical records efficiently. Excellent customer service skills coupled with retail sales experience to enhance patient satisfaction and drive sales performance. Understanding of HIPAA compliance, clinical confidentiality policies, and health regulation policies at the state and federal levels. Proficiency in basic math for calculations related to lens prescriptions, retail transactions, and inventory management. Hands-on experience with optical equipment including laboratory tools and POS systems for retail operations. Knowledge of vision billing practices relevant to optometry practices. Ability to work effectively within a team environment while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting. Retail optometry experience required.
