What You'll Do Part time - Full time (current hours are Tuesday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm (closed for lunch 12-1). Must be able to adjust schedule as needed to potentially accommodate Mondays. No weekends! Primarily this job will be for an optician with insurance billing experience. A summary of key responsibilities include:
Optical:
Assist patients with eyeglass selection; promote sales and lens options
Explaining insurance benefits
Accurately measure PD, OC, seg height, frame measurements
Keep optical area clean and organized
Ordering and dispensing contact lenses and glasses
Troubleshoot issues with glasses; perform adjustments and repairs of eyewear
Place frame orders with vendors, and manage inventory
Instruct patients how to insert and remove contact lenses (soft, hard and scleral)
Help with basic medical testing as needed
Administrative:
Processing insurance claims, posting insurance payments, collecting payments due
Answering phone calls, returning voicemails, communicating with patients via email
Scheduling appointments and checking patients in upon arrival
Collecting proper paperwork for each patient
Checking insurance benefits when needed
Stocking supplies
Sanitizing surfaces, vacuuming, taking out garbage and recycling What You Bring
Minimum education: High School Diploma required
Minimum 1-2 years of optical experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical skills, particularly for insurance billing and reporting
Ability to work independently
Organized and has attention to detail
Positive attitude and approachable, professional demeanor
Dependable and reliable
Self-motivated by taking initiative and identifying areas for improvement or growth
