Coverage would go through February 1, 2027, with potential to stay on part-time after. Schedule would include three flexible weekdays and Saturday. Responsibilities Conduct thorough eye examinations, including entrance testing, to assess visual acuity, ocular health, and overall eye function using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques. Diagnose and manage a variety of eye conditions including refractive errors, glaucoma, cataracts, and pediatric ocular issues. Prescribe corrective lenses, medications, or treatments tailored to each patient's needs while explaining procedures clearly and empathetically. Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and proper use of eyewear or contact lenses to promote long-term visual wellness. Collaborate with optical staff to recommend appropriate eyewear solutions and assist in sales efforts by providing expert advice on optical products. Follow aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety and uphold high standards of infection control. Collect copays following completion of exam Requirements Valid licensure as an Optometrist with state licensing board approval. Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice settings, but new grads welcome Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy of the eye, and medical terminology related to ocular health. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for efficient documentation and record management. Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and compassionately. Knowledge of medical coding procedures relevant to optometry services for billing accuracy. Ability to perform vital signs assessment when necessary and adhere to aseptic techniques during examinations. Commitment to patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
