Alumni Healthcare Staffing seeks a Locum Tenens Optometrist to provide comprehensive eye care for patients in California. In this flexible assignment, you will perform routine and medical eye exams, diagnose and manage ocular disease, prescribe lenses and medications, and coordinate referrals for advanced care when needed. You'll document accurately in EMR systems, follow all clinical and regulatory standards, and collaborate with clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow and excellent service. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive eye exams and vision assessments Diagnose and manage common ocular diseases and conditions Prescribe corrective lenses, treatments, and medications as appropriate Document encounters accurately in EMR systems and maintain records Coordinate referrals to ophthalmology or specialty care when needed Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment plans Follow clinical, regulatory, and payer guidelines and protocols Collaborate with clinic staff to ensure efficient patient flow and scheduling Support quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives Adapt to varying practice settings and workflows as a locum tenens provider Required Skills Comprehensive eye examination techniques Ocular disease diagnosis and management Refraction and prescribing corrective lenses Contact lens fitting and management Use of slit lamp, tonometry, and diagnostic equipment EMR documentation and clinical recordkeeping Pharmacologic management of eye conditions Patient education and counseling Clinical decision-making and differential diagnosis Knowledge of optometry regulations and standards of care
