We are seeking an Illinois-licensed Doctor of Optometry (OD) to join our growing clinical research team in Orland Park, Illinois . This is a unique opportunity for an Optometrist who enjoys hands-on clinical work and is interested in expanding into clinical research along with clinical practice. The Optometrist will primarily perform ophthalmic examinations. You will work alongside our Principal Investigator, Medical Director and Clinical Research Coordinators in a collaborative research environment. Previous clinical research experience is not required. Study-specific research and protocol training will be provided. Both part-time and full-time candidates are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do:

Your primary responsibility will be to independently perform ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing required for clinical research participants. The Optometrist must be comfortable independently performing: Visual acuity testing, including best-corrected visual acuity Refraction Slit-lamp examination Intraocular pressure measurement / tonometry Goldmann applanation tonometry Hertel exophthalmometry Pupillary examination and RAPD assessment Color vision testing Extraocular motility examination Ocular alignment assessment Cover/uncover and alternate cover testing Prism measurements Diplopia assessment Eyelid and periocular measurements Dilated ophthalmic examination, when required Optic nerve assessment OCT imaging Automated visual field testing Fundus photography External ophthalmic photography Pachymetry and other protocol-required ophthalmic testing Candidates should be comfortable setting up, operating, and performing testing independently using the associated ophthalmic equipment . Study-specific instructions, protocol requirements, and sponsor-required training will be provided for each clinical trial.

Clinical Research Responsibilities:

In addition to ophthalmic assessments, the Optometrist will: Complete accurate clinical and study documentation Document examination findings and test results Work closely with Clinical Research Coordinators. Review study-specific testing requirements before participant visits Assist with clinical data entry when needed Assist with preparation or drafting of clinical summaries and reports Help ensure ophthalmic equipment is properly set up and ready for study visits Complete required study and device training Communicate important clinical findings to the Principal Investigator and research team Assist with other reasonable clinical research activities assigned by the Director or Principal Investigator Our research team will support the Optometrist with study coordination, protocol requirements, and research workflows , allowing the clinician to focus primarily on high-quality ophthalmic assessments.
