Navigator- Oncology

Job Description

The Navigator serves as an essential link between patients and all other care providers. Provides individual assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers and help facilitate timely access to quality health and psychosocial care from diagnosis through all phases. Acts as lead over clerical staff in their daily functions and data collections, staffing and provides coverage. Assist manager as needed. Be a consistent person for continuity during cancer experience, acting as a guide to timely, comprehensive care.

Have knowledge of insurance benefits, financial assistance, co-pay assistance, specialty pharmacies and resources in helping patients obtain prescribed Oncologic/Hematologic medications, and work with cancer center staff to assure this is completed in a timely manner to achieve the best outcome for the patient.

Act as a liaison between patient, family, physician, and other members of the cancer care team and assist in providing patient/family orientation to the interdisciplinary team.

Assist in researching and obtaining grants for improving and advancing Oncology Care Services.
