Job Description Summary:
Responsible for providing lifting support for patients as necessary in clinical and ancillary areas to ensure safety for the patient and clinical staff, as well as to increase and ensure patient satisfaction. The employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assisting nurses and other health care providers with patient transfers as requested such as bed to chair/chair to bed; bed to stretcher/stretcher to bed; stretcher to X-ray table/X- ray table to stretcher; Rapid Response; Aid with getting patients to showers/baths, etc. Perform turns every two hours Assisting in patient repositioning as requested by health care providers. Responsibility for any total body lift transfers needed inpatient care; the patient is unable to assist with the transfer. Responsibility for any high-risk transfers needed inpatient care; i.e., the patient is over 200 pounds, unable to assist with the transfer or lift. Compliance with specific policies and procedures for safety and infection control. Safe partnering with other health care providers to perform complex patient lifts/transfers, i.e. handling of multiple patient support lines, ventilators, traction devices, etc. Utilizing effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or equivalent required.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION
Current CPR certification (If not certified, must have certification within first 90 days of employment.)
EXPERIENCE
At least one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting or clinical studies is preferred.
