5 Memphis, TN Job Details Full-time 10 hours ago Benefits On-the-job training Qualifications Customer communication Working with geriatric patients Adolescents Geriatrics Full Job Description A Brief Overview Provides timely transport of patients and delivers specimens and equipment to and from all areas of the hospital in accordance with established practices and standards. What you will do Provides timely transport of patients, specimens and equipment in accordance with established practices and standards.
  • Responds to assignments and provides timely transport of patients (via wheelchair, beds or stretcher) throughout the hospital. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient population patient in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
  • Checks ID band prior to transporting patients.
  • Assesses patient's needs before each lift, move or ambulation for appropriate safety precautions to be taken to prevent injury when dealing with all age groups.
  • Secures proper equipment and assists in transferring patients into beds, chairs, wheelchairs or stretchers utilizing proper techniques.
  • Provides patient escort services as needed.
  • Transports charts, specimens, records, equipment and supplies to and from department in a safe and timely manner. Monitors and obtains trip information via the automated patient tracking system.
  • Comprehends assignment.
  • Accepts job in system.
  • Records job information in log report/system for referencing purposes. Cleans and assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and utilizes supplies in a cost effective manner. Reports malfunction of equipment to supervisor.
  • Assists with cleaning and maintenance of equipment areas/rooms (includes supplies, equipment, beds).
  • Assists in care and maintains equipment and supplies utilized during transports.
  • Cleans equipment after use and returns to proper storage area when no longer needed.
This includes beds, wheelchairs and other equipment utilized within department. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and notifies appropriate personnel. Works effectively as a team member within department and with customers to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration.
  • Interacts and works collaboratively with patient/family/hospital staff in a customer responsive and courteous manner, in compliance with iRESPECT standards and promoting patient/customer satisfaction.
  • Informs nursing and transportation of any incidents/problems.
  • Assists personnel when needed by performing tasks to keep department operating at peak efficiency levels.
Maintains required department records, reports and files for administrative and compliance purposes. Maintains confidentiality in matters relating to patient/family, department and hospital information. Adheres to established department and organization policies (i.e. HIPAA, Confidentiality and Compliance Policies). Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and personnel. Adheres to established department policies, procedures, objectives, compliance/quality improvement with consideration given to risk management, infection control practices and patient safety practices. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Participates in facility performance improvement and safety programs. Provides coverage for relief and absences. Demonstrates flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday shift to provide continuous Transportation coverage as required. Qualifications Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adolescence, adult, and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates Required CPR
  • Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation certification must be obtained during orientation process Required or BCLS
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained during orientation process Required Some experience in Healthcare or related facilities, as well some on-the-job training Preferred Physical Demands Standing
