Job Description:
Fitchburg State University Athletics & Recreation Group Fitness instructors are an integral part of the Athletics & Recreation team. Instructors are responsible for leading group fitness classes that may range in category and difficulty level. This may include choreography, counting, cueing and more.
General Duties include:
Provide a safe and fun environment for participants Provide good customer service to all participants Demonstrate and promote knowledge of proper group fitness components - warm up, aerobic exercise, flexibility, cool down, etc. Assist with maintenance of group fitness equipment and storage areas Awareness of Recreation policies and procedures that pertain to Group Fitness Enforce facility and program policies Assist with special events when possible
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications include: Ability to conduct safe and effective classes Prior experience teaching/leading group fitness classes Knowledge in techniques and dynamics of group fitness Able to work a minimum number of hours per week (ideally at least two classes per week) Knowledge of strength training and/or cardiovascular exercise Good communication skills Must be reliable and dependable Preferred Qualifications include: National Fitness Certification (ACE, ACSM, AFAA, etc.) Have current certification for specific class format CPR/AED certification Available to work over winter break
Additional Information:
This is a part-time, non-benefited position with a varied schedule. Hourly rate $25.00. Fitchburg State University is an equal opportunity employer.
