Recreation Leader City of Ferguson - 5.0 Ferguson, MO Job Details Part-time $15 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification Writing skills In-person customer service High school diploma or GED Driver's License Community relationship building Full Job Description Ferguson Parks and Recreation is looking for part-time Recreation Leaders to assist with operations and programs at the Ferguson Community Center and other park facilities. Work is done in an indoor and outdoor setting. Schedules may vary based on the number of programs and events assigned. Hours may not exceed 30 hours per week. Work involves implementing and overseeing assigned program operations. Areas of responsibility may include, but are not limited to: child watch area, gym, fitness center, game room, sport leagues, youth programs, adult programs, room rentals, and special events at the facility. This position also assists with special events, programs, and activities at other facilities throughout the Ferguson Parks System. This position requires someone with strong customer service skills who can handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Applicant must work well with the public, be organized, and possess strong interpersonal skills. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Recreation Specialist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
During assigned shifts this position may be responsible for the daily operation of, including but not limited to the child watch area, fitness center, gym, game room, youth programs, adult/senior programs, and special events held within the facility or the programming or facility supervision at an off-site location. Prepare facility, rooms, fields, or courts for planned events. Assist with scheduled youth and adult recreational programs including camps, member events, tiny tots, sport leagues, social activities, off-site trips, and special events. Assist with maintenance tasks including room set-ups, decorating, and cleaning. Ensure facility is clean, well-maintained and safety procedures are followed. Monitor facility usage. Maintain positive rapport with members, staff and volunteers. Assist with birthday party packages at the community center. Perform clerical duties as needed and answering patron inquiries. Complete reports for injury, accidents and other incidents. Provide effective and efficient customer service and promote and maintain responsive community relations. Answer, route and resolve questions or problems via phone or in person Process registration for programs and functions Follow safe work practices. Market programs and promote membership benefits. Give facility tours. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma or GED required. Valid Missouri Driver's License. Requires a positive, can-do attitude with ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Must possess strong human relation skills and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Sound judgment and decision-making skills to handle problem solving and interpersonal skills to deal with people of all socio-economic levels. Subject to working a varied schedule including days, evenings and weekends. CPR certification required (provided by the City upon hire).
