Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A travel pharmacist opportunity is available in Alturas, California, offering an 8-week contract assignment starting ASAP. This role involves working 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with a full travel package that includes housing, meals, and mileage reimbursement. Under the direction of the Retail Pharmacy Manager, the pharmacist will oversee all retail pharmaceutical services, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include compounding and dispensing medications, reviewing prescriptions for accuracy, directing pharmacy technician activities, patient counseling, maintaining quality assurance and security protocols, managing inventory and third-party billing systems, reporting errors, and fostering strong relationships with healthcare professionals. Additionally, this role involves instructing pharmacy interns and technicians and maximizing pharmacy sales while controlling expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Compound, dispense, and counsel on prescribed medications Review prescriptions and verify formulas and ingredients Lead pharmacy technicians in pharmaceutical preparation Maintain quality assurance and secure controlled substances Manage patient data, inventory, and third-party billing systems Report prescription errors and adhere to incident policies Build and maintain strong healthcare professional relationships Update and enforce pharmacy policies and procedures Educate pharmacy interns and technicians on best practices
Required Qualifications:
Active California Pharmacist License in good standing Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited institution Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Ability to collaborate effectively across organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications:
PharmD degree preferred Retail pharmacy experience strongly preferred Experience in rural or critical access hospital pharmacy a plus
