Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract This pharmacist role, based in Yatahey, NM, focuses on ensuring safe and effective medication use within a hospital pharmacy setting. The pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, monitoring therapy outcomes, and providing drug-related education to healthcare staff. Leadership duties include managing day-to-day operations and supervising pharmacy technicians, stepping into director responsibilities when required.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications, including IV solutions and parenteral drugs. Monitor patient drug therapies for safety, effectiveness, and compliance with clinical guidelines. Provide drug information and clinical education to physicians, nurses, and patients. Manage pharmacy inventory, maintain records, and oversee technical personnel. Participate in emergency response teams such as Rapid Response and Code Blue. Contribute to quality assurance, compliance activities, and professional development initiatives. Support formulary management and automated dispensing machine updates.
Qualifications and Experience:
Graduate from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred. Current, active New Mexico pharmacist license. 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered. Demonstrated clinical knowledge, attention to detail, supervisory ability, and proficiency with pharmacy systems.
Physical Requirements:
Capable of repetitive hand use, lifting up to 40 pounds, and standing for extended periods. Ability to operate pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently.
