Staff Pharmacist

Job Description

Job Purpose The job purpose of a Staff Pharmacist is to support the supervising pharmacist and store leadership, ensuring safe and accurate prescription dispensing, immunization services, and operational success. This role also supports third-party administration and regulatory compliance while providing a safe and exceptional experience for our Guests and Associates.
Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations & Compliance:
Ensure all pharmacy activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA, and company policies. Maintain safety, security, and quality assurance standards, including proper storage, handling, and disposal of medications.
Customer Care & Service Excellence:
Provide prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service. Counsel patients on prescriptions, drug interactions, and health concerns. Foster a welcoming environment that prioritizes patient trust, safety, and satisfaction. Accurately fill prescriptions, administer immunizations, and resolve prescription issues with prescribers. Support clinical initiatives such as MTM.
Inventory & Asset Management:
Monitor and manage inventory levels, conduct audits, process returns and recalls, and ensure compliance with asset protection policies.
Team Leadership & Development:
Supervise and support pharmacy staff and interns. Assist in training, mentoring, and performance development to ensure a knowledgeable and effective team.
Business & Community Engagement:
Collaborate with store leadership to drive pharmacy performance, meet key metrics, and support health and wellness programs. Participate in community outreach and in-store events to promote pharmacy services.
Administrative & Billing Support:
Ensure accurate third-party billing, claims reconciliation, and compliance with reimbursement guidelines. Complete required training and maintain professional licensure and continuing education. And all other duties assigned by Management or Supervision. Previous experience in clinical pharmacy settings such as hospital or LTC (long-term care) pharmacies is highly valued. Demonstrated expertise in managing pharmacy teams or supervising pharmacy technicians. Strong background in pharmacy operations, including inventory management, drug regulation compliance, and aseptic technique. Proven ability to practice as a pharmacist with a focus on patient care, medication administration, and healthcare compliance. Experience with pediatric and acute care pharmacy practices is a plus. Certification in immunizations and Basic Life Support (BLS) is required or preferred. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR platforms is essential for efficient workflow.
Experience Education & Licensure:
Completion of at least a five‑year pharmacy degree from an accredited college or university. Active, valid state pharmacy license with immunization privileges. Compliance with all required certifications and training (e.g., CPR, Bloodborne Pathogen, Fraud/Waste/Abuse). Must meet Office of Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) standards and not be listed on any federal exclusion lists.
Professional Competency:
Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, clinical practices, and regulatory compliance. Must demonstrate basic math and English proficiency, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively with upper leadership and store teams. Ability to interpret scientific literature, legal documents, and business metrics. Proficient in pharmacy‑related technology and systems, with strong problem‑solving, data analysis, and applied mathematical skills.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Clear, professional communication with patients, colleagues, and leadership. Ability to respond effectively to customer inquiries, complaints, and regulatory matters. Capable of presenting information to a variety of audiences, including management and public groups.
Physical Requirements:
Able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, climb, and crouch; regularly lift up to 25 lbs. (up to 50 lbs. occasionally); perform duties requiring significant walking, pushing, and pulling of equipment; and work in varying temperature conditions.
Pay & Benefits Pay:
$52.00-$65.00/Hour This position is eligible for Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, effective on the first of the month following 30 days of employment. Paid time off, including vacation, personal days, sick time, and holidays, is accrued on a graduated basis over time. Additional benefits include basic life insurance, optional supplemental insurance, and long-term disability coverage, and a 401(k) retirement plan is also available.
