Pharmacist II

Job Description

Works cooperatively with other health care team members to provide pharmacy component of patient care services. Supervises distribution of pharmaceuticals to patients and provides information to promote the safe and effective use of these agents. Provides pharmacokinetic, antibiotic, and parenteral nutrition consults to physicians on request. Acts as a shift supervisor for Pharmacy Technicians. Performs additional responsibilities as requested. Provides oversight of pharmacy information systems, and implements changes and upgrades to the automated medication dispensing system. na

Minimum:
  • BS in
Pharmacy Preferred:
  • Pharm
D LICENSE
Minimum:
  • Current NYS Pharmacist license (or eligible).
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS
WORK
EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
  • One year of previous hospital pharmacy experience.
SKILLS:
Minimum:
  • Familiarity with unit dose systems, preparation of intravenous admixtures, parenteral nutrition solutions, and chemotherapy.
  • Computer experience and knowledge of pharmacokinetic dosing principles and principles involved in dosage adjustments and monitoring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Experience with Adverse Drug Reaction reporting and performance improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.
  • Computer literacy
Preferred:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products including word, excel
