Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Pharmacist - Aseptic 503B Compounding Supervisor to oversee and manage our sterile compounding operations within our 503B outsourcing facility. This pivotal role involves leading a team of pharmacy professionals in ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical preparation, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in aseptic technique, IV infusion, and pharmaceutical regulations, combined with strong leadership skills to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities Operational Leadership:
Lead and supervise the aseptic compounding teams daily sterile compounding workflow, providing hands-on oversight and final verification of batch logs and finished products. Monitor environmental controls such as airflow systems, cleanroom integrity, and contamination prevention measures to maintain optimal sterile conditions.
Regulatory Excellence:
Ensure 100% compliance with
FDA 503B
regulations, state pharmacy board mandates, and
OSHA/PCAB
standards. Ensure SOP's related to aseptic technique are followed accurately
Staff Mentorship:
Supervise, train, and motivate pharmacy technicians and staff, fostering a culture of precision, accountability, and professional growth. Conduct regular training sessions on aseptic technique, IV infusion procedures, pharmacology principles, and regulatory updates for pharmacy staff.
Clinical Collaboration:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including quality assurance and supply chain to ensure seamless operations and compliance.
Facility Oversight:
Ensure equipment and cleanroom infrastructure (ISO Class 5, 7, and 8 environments) are maintained to the highest sanitation and regulatory standards.
Documentation:
Maintain detailed documentation for audits, inspections, incident reports, and process improvements to uphold the highest standards of patient safety and regulatory adherence. Requirements Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or equivalent pharmacy qualification with current licensure in the relevant jurisdiction. Extensive post-residency experience practicing as a licensed pharmacist with a focus on aseptic compounding within a 503B outsourcing facility or hospital pharmacy setting. Proven leadership experience managing pharmacy teams in high-volume sterile compounding environments. Deep knowledge of USP <797>, <800>, drug regulation policies, and pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards. Hands-on expertise in aseptic technique, IV infusion preparation, drug administration protocols, and infection control practices. Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations including hospital medicine, critical care (ICU), emergency room procedures, pediatrics, oncology treatments, pain management protocols (acute pain), PICU experience, Level I & II trauma center experience preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to precept staff members and train new team members effectively.
