MedStar Health seeks a part-time Pharmacist to support safe, effective medication use across our hospital-based care teams. In this role, you will verify and dispense medications, review orders for safety and clinical appropriateness, and provide evidence-based drug information to physicians and nurses. You will counsel patients on new and high-risk therapies, monitor for interactions and adverse effects, and support medication safety and quality initiatives. Working in a collaborative, patient-first environment, you will contribute to excellent outcomes while advancing your clinical skills. Responsibilities Review and verify medication orders for safety, accuracy, and appropriateness Prepare, dispense, and label medications in accordance with regulations and hospital policies Provide clinical drug information and dosing recommendations to physicians and nurses Counsel patients and families on medication use, side effects, and adherence Monitor for potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications Support inventory management, including controlled substances handling and documentation Participate in medication safety initiatives and quality improvement activities Maintain accurate pharmacy records and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards Collaborate with interprofessional care teams on patient care plans and rounds Precept or support training of pharmacy students or new staff as needed Required Skills Clinical pharmacy practice Medication order verification Sterile and non-sterile compounding Drug interaction and allergy screening Electronic health record (EHR) and CPOE systems Pharmacokinetics and dosing adjustment Patient counseling and education Regulatory compliance and medication safety Inventory and controlled substance management Interdisciplinary team collaboration
