Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Retail Pharmacist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, ensuring pharmacy operations run smoothly, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. Your expertise will support community health initiatives, manage medication therapy, and foster positive client relationships. Responsibilities Dispense prescription medications accurately while verifying dosage, interactions, and patient-specific needs using advanced pharmacy software systems. Provide expert medication counseling to patients, including education on proper usage, potential side effects, and adherence strategies. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to develop personalized pharmaceutical care plans, including immunizations and medication management. Manage pharmacy inventory efficiently, ensuring stock levels meet patient demand and comply with pharmaceutical regulatory standards such as USP 797. Oversee pharmacy operations, including supervising pharmacy technicians and supporting staff to uphold high-quality service standards. Ensure strict adherence to state and federal pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare compliance policies during all pharmacy activities. Perform compounding medications using aseptic techniques when necessary for specialized treatments like IV infusions or pediatric care. Maintain accurate medical records within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to support seamless patient care coordination. Stay current with drug regulation updates and clinical guidelines to provide safe, effective pharmaceutical services across diverse settings such as community pharmacies or LTC (Long-Term Care) facilities. Qualifications Valid pharmacist license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards. Proven experience practicing as a pharmacist in retail or community settings; hospital or acute care experience is highly valued. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and pharmacology principles essential for effective patient assessment and medication management. Demonstrated expertise in managing pharmacy teams and supporting pharmacy operations efficiently. Experience with pharmacy software systems (PIS), EMR/EHR platforms, and inventory management tools. Critical care or pain management experience is a plus; familiarity with immunizations and medical management enhances patient service delivery. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and knowledgeable about pharmaceutical regulatory compliance standards such as USP 797. Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service excellence; ability to explain complex medical information clearly to diverse populations including pediatrics. Knowledge of drug regulation laws at the federal and state levels; understanding of clinical confidentiality policies including HIPAA is essential.
