RESPONSIBILITIES I. JOB SUMMARY
Assists the pharmacist in the processing and filling of prescriptions and medication/medical supply orders. Reviews and enters orders & patient information into the pharmacy computer system. Processes and assists in the maintenance of pharmacy inventory. Performs sales transactions and provides customers/patients with information about medications, health insurance, and other health care related services. Files third-party insurance claims on paper and electronically.

III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Some exposure to cold temperature from freezer. Exposure to noise/vibration from office/pharmacy equipment. Exposure to body fluids, chemicals and contact with patients with communicable diseases. May be required to work with hazardous drugs, depending upon area of assignment. Work environment is fast paced, crowded and may be stressful.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.
EDUCATION
Completion of pharmacy technical program or on-the-job education/pharmacy work experience preferred.
B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE
Current Hawaii State certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
C. EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of work experience, preferably as pharmacy technician/clerk.
Experience to demonstrate:
o Ability to handle cash transactions. o Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. o Ability to be accurate and attentive to detail. o Ability to work in a high-volume, sometimes stressful environment. o Ability to operate different machines such as computer, calculator, cash register.
