Job Description

Position Summary The Supervisor of Pharmacy Operations is responsible for overseeing evening pharmacy operations to ensure efficient workflow, compliance with company policies and regulatory standards, and timely completion of all prescription orders. This position directly supervises Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Shippers, Packers, and Pharmacists working. Maintains operational excellence, employee performance, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily operations of non-sterile compounding pharmacy order processing, shipping, and packing activities.
  • Oversee Certified Pharmacy Technicians, Shippers, Packers, and Pharmacists to ensure adherence to established SOPs, company policies, safety protocols, quality standards, and performance metrics.
  • Monitor production workflow to ensure timely completion of all prescriptions and shipments, including printing and posting daily employee performance.
  • Conduct daily start-up and end-of-day operational checks, ensuring all stations are prepared, organized, and compliant.
  • Ensure timely response to all emails and internal communications throughout the day to maintain workflow continuity. Escalate issues or delays to leadership promptly when resolution requires higher-level intervention or may impact production, compliance, or patient orders.
  • Support training and onboarding of new pharmacy staff; ensure ongoing competency evaluations and proper adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and enforce adherence to scheduled shift times, breaks, and lunch periods.
  • Review daily logs, work output, and performance metrics to ensure staff meet productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and reduce errors.
  • Manage communication between departments (compounding, packaging, shipping, inventory, and pharmacy floor) to ensure coordination and timely task completion.
  • Investigate and address performance concerns; provide feedback, coaching, and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Collaborate with the PIC and management team on audits, compliance checks, and corrective actions as necessary.
  • Review and approve or reject time-off requests from pharmacy staff while maintaining appropriate shift coverage and operational efficiency. Time-off requests exceeding one week must be reviewed in coordination with the General Manager prior to approval.
  • Evaluate daily workload and pharmacy floor conditions to ensure proper resource allocation based on volume. Proactively redistribute staff to balance workflow during peak or congested periods, and assess staffing needs during light-volume periods to determine early releases or overtime requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for pharmacy operations communication between the PIC and General Manager. Qualifications
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician license preferred (or relevant supervisory experience in a compounding or retail pharmacy setting).
  • Minimum 3 years of pharmacy operations or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Proficient in pharmacy systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends when operationally required. Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
  • Work in a temperature-controlled compounding and shipping environment.
Pay:
