Job Description

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing exceptional patient service within a fast-paced, clinical environment. Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding. Assist with medication intake, verification, and documentation to ensure proper medication management for diverse patient populations. Manage inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals according to safety standards. Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, clarifying medication instructions, and supporting medication administration processes. Support critical care and acute care teams by understanding medical terminology and assisting with complex medication protocols. Maintain meticulous records of medication dispensing, inventory logs, and patient interactions in compliance with regulatory standards. Follow aseptic techniques during sterile preparations to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Collaborate with hospital staff to facilitate smooth medication distribution and support patient care initiatives. Participate in ongoing training related to LTC pharmacy practices, IV infusion procedures, and hospital protocols to stay current with industry standards. Prior pharmacy technician experience is required; experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital settings is highly preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and aseptic technique. Experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding is a strong plus. Critical care or acute care experience enhances your ability to support complex patient needs effectively. Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service and team collaboration. Ability to manage intake processes efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Familiarity with pharmacy software systems and inventory management tools. Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is required; ongoing education related to hospital or LTC pharmacy practices is advantageous.
