Certification Registered Pharmacy Technician Full Job Description Job Summary PelMeds Pharmacy is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for accurately filling prescriptions, managing daily pharmacy workflow, operating and maintaining pharmacy automation equipment, and ensuring all tasks are completed in accordance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, comfortable working with pharmacy technology and robotics, able to prioritize high-volume workflows, and committed to accuracy and patient safety. Schedule Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Full-Time Position Responsibilities Become fully knowledgeable and proficient with SuiteRx software and MapYourMeds (MYM) . Manage the fill queue and monitor MapYourMeds for daily tasks, high-priority orders, and workflow needs. Accurately read prescriptions and interpret directions to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly. Perform NDC verification on prescriptions and change/rebill NDCs when necessary. Follow proper filling techniques and all established pharmacy procedures. Identify and appropriately process daily orders and cycle orders , including required filling and logging procedures. Identify out-of-stock medications, process partial fills when appropriate, and communicate medication status through MYM. Properly identify brand and generic medications , as well as CII and CIII-CV controlled substances . Compile medication shopping carts for purchasing and assist with medication ordering. Reorder pharmacy supplies as needed and receive incoming orders. Properly operate pharmacy equipment, including heat sealers, counting machines, and pre-pack robots . Pre-pack medication cards and return medications to stock daily or as needed. Follow established procedures for the storage and organization of medications, stock bottles, and pharmacy supplies. Sort, package, and organize completed prescriptions. Maintain and prioritize orders within the robot fill queue. Pharmacy Automation & Robotics Operate pharmacy automation equipment, including DOSIS, Yuyama, and Parata machines . Operate checking and verification systems, including Parata InspectRx, Perl, and Yuyama TabSight . Maintain and clean pharmacy robots according to established schedules and procedures. Identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and software-related issues. Contact appropriate support staff or technical support when additional assistance is required. Ensure robot canisters remain fully stocked, operational, and up to date. Replace and order consumable materials as needed and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Monitor, correct, document, and report equipment and system errors. Help ensure automation equipment remains operational and pharmacy workflow is not unnecessarily interrupted. Compliance & Professional Expectations Maintain knowledge of applicable pharmacy rules, regulations, and company policies and remain compliant at all times. Maintain all required pharmacy technician licenses and registrations. Understand and respect the roles and responsibilities of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists. Report to work as scheduled and follow company policies regarding attendance, lunches, and breaks. Maintain appropriate professional attire, including business casual attire or scrubs , and wear a name badge as required. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Wear appropriate PPE when required and demonstrate an understanding of emergency and disaster procedures. Perform all duties within the limits of applicable laws and PelMeds policies and procedures . Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner consistent with the practice of pharmacy. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and protect patient confidentiality at all times. Qualifications Pharmacy Technician license/registration as required by applicable state regulations. Previous pharmacy experience preferred. Experience with pharmacy automation or robotics is strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced pharmacy environment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Comfortable learning and troubleshooting pharmacy software and automated equipment. Ability to work effectively as part of a pharmacy team.
