Pharmacy Technician - In-Office Dispensary Five Valleys Urology is a busy, independent specialty medical practice serving patients throughout western Montana and beyond. We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our in-office dispensary—but this is not a traditional pharmacy technician position . Our pharmacy technicians are an integral part of the clinical team. They don't simply process prescriptions or work from pharmacy software. They work within the patient's medical record, understand the bigger picture of the patient's care, collaborate with physicians and clinical staff, navigate insurance and financial assistance programs, and help ensure patients receive the medications they need as efficiently and affordably as possible. Our in-office dispensary is focused on urologic medications, with a significant role in supporting patients with advanced prostate cancer and other complex conditions. The right person will be interested not only in helping individual patients, but also in understanding how the dispensary fits into the success of the entire practice. Attention to detail is paramount. The work involves medications, insurance requirements, prior authorizations, financial assistance, clinical documentation, and coordination across multiple systems. What You'll Do Process and manage prescriptions through our pharmacy software. Work directly within our electronic health record and develop an understanding of each patient's overall clinical picture. Complete and follow through on prior authorizations. Navigate insurance requirements and communicate with payers. Work with Patient Assistance Programs (PAP) and Patient Assistance Foundations (PAF) to help patients obtain medications. Process and coordinate refill requests. Provide medication education and support to patients. Order and manage medication inventory. Collaborate closely with physicians, clinical staff, and our Advanced Prostate Cancer Program coordinator. Help identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, service, and performance of our in-office dispensary. Take ownership of problems and follow them through to resolution. Experience as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or Pharmacy Technician is required. Strong computer skills and the ability to work comfortably within an electronic health record are essential. Experience in specialty pharmacy, oncology, prior authorizations, or patient assistance programs is a plus—but curiosity, initiative, reliability, and the ability to learn are every bit as important to us.
