Southern Dominion Health System (SDHS) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our growing Community Pharmacy team. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the pharmacist with the daily operations of the pharmacy while providing friendly, accurate, and professional service to our patients. Job Summary The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting with prescription processing, medication preparation, inventory management, patient service, and other pharmacy operations under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing and dispensing activities. Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately. Prepare and package medications under the direction and supervision of the pharmacist. Assist with prescription pick-up and provide courteous customer service to patients. Answer phones and assist patients with routine pharmacy questions, referring clinical questions to the pharmacist. Maintain accurate patient and prescription records. Assist with medication inventory, ordering, receiving, stocking, and storage. Monitor inventory levels and help identify medications that need to be reordered. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment. Follow all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements. Assist with insurance claims, prior authorization requests, and other prescription-related administrative duties as assigned. Assist with maintaining appropriate documentation and pharmacy records. Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy staff, medical providers, and other SDHS employees. Perform other duties as assigned.
