As a vital member of our healthcare staff, you will play a crucial role in patient care by performing blood draws and laboratory specimen collections accurately and efficiently. This position requires not only technical precision but also strong interpersonal skills, as you will be working directly with patients to ensure their comfort and safety during the procedure. The ideal candidate will have experience in a clinical setting, demonstrating a thorough understanding of phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and compliance with health regulations. Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection according to established protocols. Ensure the proper identification of patients prior to specimen collection. Maintain accurate records of specimens collected and ensure proper labeling. Adhere to infection control protocols and best practices for safety during blood draws. Establish and maintain effective communication with patients to ease anxiety and discomfort during procedures. Process and package specimens for transportation to the laboratory. Assist in maintaining inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment in the department. Valid certification as a phlebotomist from an accredited program. Proven experience in phlebotomy or a related clinical role. Knowledge of blood collection protocols and safety standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in documentation. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
