The PT evaluates, treats, and progresses patients with disabilities, injuries, and disease as prescribed by the attending physician.
Function:
1. Evaluate patient per physician's orders, establish physical therapy treatment plan, including the establishment of short and long-term goals for patients as approved by the physician. 2. Give instructions in various exercise programs and therapeutic procedures to be continued by patient both in the facility and at home, adapt conventional techniques to meet the needs of patients unable to comprehend verbal orders or voluntarily carry out a therapeutic exercise regime. 3. Provide physical therapy services as ordered by the referring physician and delegates appropriate portions of treatment program to the PTA when applicable. 4. Direct and supervise treatments administered by the PTA in accordance with state and federal guidelines. 5. Maintain patient care records assuring that reimbursement qualifications are met. 6. Consult with family members, physicians, and other health care professionals. 7. Order and recommend new equipment, changes in rehabilitative care plan, and other related duties as requested. 8. Inspect equipment, refer maintenance to appropriate source and maintain safe environment for patients and staff. 9. Supervise work activities of subordinate staff. 10. Participate in and attend professional workshops and seminars.
Qualifications:
1. Must be a graduate of an approved course in physical therapy as certified by the American Physical Therapy Association. 2. Must be licensed/certified or eligible for licensure under the statues of the state in which the RPT will be practicing. 3. Gentleness and sympathy in dealing with patients. 4. Physically capable of performing the rigors of direct patient care; which may include lifting, pulling, pushing and placing of patients and treatment equipment.
