$240k - 300k per year

Provides professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients and of employees injured as a result of TDCJ-ID work related activities. Ensures that appropriate health care in accessible and provided to the inmate population in a timely fashion. Renders final medical judgement regarding care provided to inmates assigned to the unit according to Health Services Policies and Procedures. Directs all Health Services activities on the unit and assumes ultimate responsibility for all Health Services employees assigned to the unit. Works under the general direction of the Regional Physician with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement. Highlights No call responsibilities Multiple locations across Texas Weekday-only full-time schedule Open to IMLC physicians Corrections environment Practice & Cases Outpatient preventive care clinics Adult male patient population General primary care and routine visits Supported by APPs and nursing staff Schedule Monday through Friday coverage 8-hour daytime shifts Full-time 40-hour workweek required Ongoing assignment with continuity, looking for a locums to perm physician Requirements Must be an MD or DO Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Active Texas license or
IMLC LOQ
required BLS and DEA certifications
WORK ENVIRONMENT
: Located within the confines of a prison, jail or juvenile detention center. Security clearance is required; pre-employment drug testing is also required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
: Must hold a current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. Must hold current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) controlled substances registration. Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
