DESCRIPTION

The School Psychologist/ Clinical PQI provides comprehensive psychological services within the educational setting while supporting the organization's Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives through data collection, analysis, and program evaluation. The School Psychologist will support The Martin De Porres School for Exceptional Children by adhering to our mission (To educate children experiencing emotional and behavioral problems) our vision (Through education, every child entrusted to our care will have the opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential) and our core value of respect, integrity, leadership and service. This role integrates clinical expertise, educational assessment, behavioral consultation, and data-informed decision-making to improve student outcomes, strengthen service delivery systems, and support regulatory compliance. The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, clinicians, administrators, and families to promote students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development, while contributing to the organization's continuous improvement processes through outcome measurement and data analysis.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Psychological Assessment and Clinical Services Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological assessments, including cognitive, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning evaluations. Interpret assessment results and develop recommendations to inform Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and intervention planning. Prepare psychological reports and present findings during CSE meetings and multidisciplinary team conferences. Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and assist in the development and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Provide short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral consultation to students experiencing social-emotional or behavioral challenges. Participate in student crisis response, risk assessments, and safety planning when necessary. Provide treatment recommendations for students with complex behavioral or emotional needs. Consultation and Interdisciplinary Collaboration Serve as a consultant to teachers, behavioral staff, and administrators regarding student mental health, trauma-informed practices, and behavioral management strategies. Collaborate with teachers, clinical staff, and behavioral teams to implement evidence-based interventions and classroom supports. Work with families and caregivers to support student social-emotional development and academic progress. Participate in Student Support Team meetings, treatment planning sessions, and multidisciplinary case discussions. Assist social workers and clinical staff with coordination of outside agency services when appropriate. Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) The School Psychologist contributes to the organization's data-driven improvement efforts through the following activities: Assist in the collection and monitoring of student behavioral, clinical, and educational outcome data. Analyze behavioral and assessment data to identify trends related to student progress, service effectiveness, and program outcomes. Support implementation of evidence-based outcome measurement tools. Collaborate with leadership to evaluate behavioral interventions and therapeutic services. Assist in reviewing incident reports, behavioral trends, and intervention outcomes to identify patterns and prevention strategies. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing student care and educational outcomes. Assist in the preparation of data summaries, reports, and dashboards related to student outcomes. Support compliance with state, accreditation, and regulatory requirements related to performance improvement. Program Support and Professional Development Conduct monthly student progress meetings with teachers, teacher assistants, and social workers, maintaining written documentation of meeting summaries. Prepare initial case summaries for newly enrolled students. Provide staff training and professional development in areas including: Behavioral intervention planning Functional behavioral assessment Trauma-informed care Classroom management strategies Psychotropic medication awareness Support classroom staff through consultation and observation. Assist with intake screening for new students. Provide parent engagement opportunities and guidance related to student development and educational needs. Stay current with developments in school psychology, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based practices. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by Martin de Porres School administration.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION

Master's Degree, Ph.D., or Doctorate in School Psychology

LICENSURE

New York State Certification as a School Psychologist required.

EXPERIENCE

Related experience working in a school setting serving students with special needs or in a comparable clinical or educational environment.
