Job Description

A Brief Overview The Radiation Therapist accurately delivers therapeutic radiation while following department policies and procedures to offer the highest standard of care. What You Will Do Monitors and delivers therapeutic radiation and CT simulation of patients. Maintains schedules, records, documentation and billing. Demonstrates exceptional patient communication skills tailored to individuals across the lifespan, ensuring effective interactions with all age groups. Performs quality checks for equipment. Performs regular QC in accordance with department protocol. Demonstrates competency in LINAC based treatments, including 3D, IMRT, SBRT, CT simulations and on-call procedures as applicable per location. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Education Other Accredited Program:
Graduate of a CAHEA accredited radiation therapy program (Required) and Work Experience less than 1 year experience as a Radiation Therapist and Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Knowledge of radiation safety, dose calculations and treatment techniques (Required proficiency) Knowledge and ability to work with linear accelerators, simulators, block cutters, oxygen tanks, computers, and immobilization devices (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Registered Technologist Radiation Therapy (ARRT-T) (Required Upon Hire) and Valid Ohio Radiologic license in Radiation Therapy from the Ohio Department of Health (Required Upon Hire) Physical Demands Standing Frequently Walking Frequently Sitting Rarely Lifting Frequently up to 50 lbs Carrying Frequently up to 50 lbs Pushing Frequently up to 50 lbs Pulling Frequently up to 50 lbs Climbing Occasionally up to 50 lbs Balancing Occasionally Stooping Frequently Kneeling Frequently Crouching Frequently Crawling Occasionally Reaching Frequently Handling Frequently Grasping Frequently Feeling Constantly Talking Constantly Hearing Constantly Repetitive Motions Constantly Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination Constantly Travel Requirements 10% Occasional cross coverage at alternate UH locations.
