Fusion Cable Systems, LLC

CT Licensed Low Voltage/Communications Technician

Job Description

Connecticut Licensed Low Voltage / Communications Technician Join a small team where character matters as much as craftsmanship. Technical skills can be taught. Character, integrity, and the desire to be part of a team come from within. Fusion Cable Systems is an established Connecticut electrical and communications contractor specializing in limited energy systems, structured cabling, IT networking, access control, video distribution, fiber optics, distributed antenna systems (DAS), security system integration, and related data communications technologies. We're a small company by choice. It allows us to know our customers, know our employees, and take care of both. We're currently looking for an experienced, Connecticut-licensed technician to join our team. Who We're Looking For The license and technical experience get the conversation started. The person behind them matters even more. We're looking for someone who is honest, dependable, personable, and comfortable becoming part of a small, close-knit team. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys helping the people working beside them. There are no unimportant employees at Fusion. Our technicians collaborate directly with our customers, often with very little supervision. That requires good judgment, integrity, and the ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with everyone from an IT manager or facilities director to a teacher, administrator or another technician who is simply trying to get their system working again. We want someone who takes ownership of their work, admits when they don't know something, asks questions when necessary and takes pride in leaving a job better than they found it. Connecticut License Requirement Candidates must currently hold one of the following State of Connecticut licenses:
  • E-1
  • E-2
  • C-5
  • C-6
  • L-5
  • L-6
  • T-1
  • T-2 An E-1 or E-2 license is preferred.
Technical The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge and hands-on experience of ICT infrastructure to support IT and networking systems.
Our work includes:
  • Structured copper and fiber-optic cabling
  • Power Over Ethernet (PoE) cabling and device installation
  • IT network rooms, racks, and infrastructure
  • Network room surveys and retrofits.
  • CCTV and video management systems
  • Access control & Security Systems
  • Distributed antenna systems (DAS)
  • Intercom and communications systems
  • System troubleshooting, upgrades, and service Experience and certification with some of the technologies and manufacturers we work with is certainly helpful, but we don't expect anyone to walk through the door knowing everything.
Some of our key vendors include Axis, Verkada, Hanwha, ExacqVision, Kantech, WilsonPro, Nextivity, Leviton, Siemon, Panduit, Corning, Hubbell, Ortronics and others. If you're technically curious and enjoy learning, we'll help with the rest. Our Customers Our customers include major manufacturers, municipalities, public and private schools, and commercial organizations throughout Connecticut. Many of these relationships have been built over decades. We take that trust seriously. Every technician represents Fusion when they're at a customer's facility, which is why communication skills, courtesy, appearance, judgment, and professionalism matter as much to us as the quality of the installation. What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation is based on experience and ability .
  • Paid vacation.
  • Paid sick time.
  • Medical & Dental Insurance
  • Profit sharing
  • Flexible comp time
  • Ongoing technical and manufacturer training
  • Varied and challenging work
  • Opportunities to learn new technologies.
  • A small-company environment where your ideas and contributions matter
  • A team of talented technicians who genuinely help one another.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier. Final candidates may be required to complete standard pre-employment screening, including a background check and drug screening, in accordance with company policy and applicable law. A Personal Note from the Owner I founded Fusion Cable Systems in 2002 after many years working in the electrical and communications industries. During those years, I met too many good tradespeople who felt they were treated as numbers rather than as the people responsible for making their companies successful. I decided that if I ever had the opportunity to build my own company, I wanted to do things differently. More than two decades later, we're still a small company, and I'm proud of that. Our employees aren't numbers. They're individuals I know, respect, and depend upon. We work hard, laugh together, help each other when somebody needs it and take a great deal of pride in the reputation we've built. I believe that if you take care of good people, they'll take care of your customers—and our long-term customer relationships have proven that philosophy works. I don't expect perfection. I do expect honesty, effort, communication, and mutual respect. If you make a mistake, tell us. We'll fix it together and learn from it. If you don't know something, ask. If a teammate needs a hand, help them. And if you see a better way of doing something, I want to hear about it. That's the kind of company we've worked hard to build. We're not necessarily looking for the person with the longest résumé. We're looking for the right person. If you read this posting and found yourself thinking, "That's the kind of company I've been looking for," we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation.
