Job Summary:
\rThe Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic breast and bone density exams and procedures on\rpatients of all ages to provide physicians with data for diagnostic purposes. The Mammography Technologist works\runder the direction of a Radiologist and/or Manager.\r \n
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
\rDemonstrates sound knowledge in the performance of Breast and Bone Density Imaging while adhering to\rdepartment protocol and standards and applies the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patients,\rself and others.\rPerforms a variety of exams including Breast and Bone Density imaging. Evaluates images for technical\rquality. Performs post processing of data and ensures proper patient identification is recorded.\rProvides optimal patient care and assumes responsibility for the patient's needs during their procedures\rand exemplifies the philosophy of Patient Family Centered care to all.\rApplies the principles of patient safety during all aspects of patient care. Identifies and responds to\remergency situations in an appropriate manner. Strictly adheres to the principles of aseptic technique and\rhand washing policies.\rAssists the Radiologist with procedures and protocols.\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\r \n
Required Minimum Education:
Accredited Program Radiologic Technology \r \rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s): \rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. BLS
  • Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS
  • Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I
  • Basic Life Support
  • Instructor ARRT-M
  • ARRT Mammography ARRT-R
  • ARRT Radiography \r Additional License(s) and Certification(s): \r \n
Required Minimum Experience:
\rMinimum 2 years Diagnostic Radiography/X-Ray. Required or\rMinimum 1 year Breast imaging Preferred\r \n
Required Minimum Skills:
\rAbility to operate Radiographic equipment\rAbility to communicate verbally and written\rPossess excellent patient/customer service skills\rOperate Breast Imaging Unit
