Job Description
Wellstar is seeking a PRN MRI Technologist to provide high-quality imaging services in a collaborative, patient-centered environment. The technologist performs MRI exams following physician orders and safety protocols, screens patients for contraindications, positions patients for optimal imaging, and operates advanced MRI equipment. Responsibilities include explaining procedures, monitoring patient comfort, maintaining accurate documentation, and working closely with radiologists and interdisciplinary teams. This PRN role supports varied shifts across Wellstar locations, offering exposure to advanced clinical resources, ongoing education, and growth within a leading not-for-profit health system. Responsibilities Perform MRI examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols Verify patient identity, review orders, obtain medical history, and screen for MRI contraindications Explain procedures, ensure patient safety and comfort, and monitor patients throughout exams Position patients and select appropriate imaging parameters to optimize image quality Operate MRI scanners and peripheral equipment, troubleshooting basic technical issues Administer or assist with contrast injections per policy and monitor for reactions Document procedures, maintain accurate records, and update EMR systems Adhere to MRI safety standards, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to support accurate diagnosis Participate in ongoing education, competency validation, and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills MRI imaging procedures Operation of MRI scanners Patient positioning and immobilization Radiation and MRI safety protocols Contrast administration and IV placement Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Anatomy and physiology knowledge Aseptic and infection control techniques Emergency response and patient monitoring Regulatory and accreditation compliance
