Job Description

Mercy is seeking a skilled Radiologic Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures, ensure patient safety, and collaborate closely with physicians and clinical staff to support accurate diagnoses and treatment plans. You will maintain imaging equipment, follow radiation safety protocols, and provide compassionate care to patients of all ages. Responsibilities Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and departmental protocols. Prepare, position, and instruct patients to obtain optimal images while ensuring comfort and safety. Operate digital radiography equipment, including CR/DR systems and portable X-ray units. Apply radiation safety and ALARA principles to minimize exposure for patients, self, and staff. Verify patient identity and exam details, and document all procedures accurately in EMR and imaging systems. Evaluate images for appropriate positioning, technique, and diagnostic quality, repeating studies only when necessary. Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other care team members to support timely diagnosis and treatment. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and infection control standards in exam rooms and equipment areas. Perform basic quality control checks on imaging equipment and promptly report malfunctions or safety concerns. Assist with training and orientation of new staff or students as requested. Participate in continuing education, competencies, and departmental quality improvement initiatives. Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care and clear communication to patients and families. Required Skills Radiography using X-ray equipment Digital imaging (CR/DR) operation Patient positioning and immobilization Radiation safety and ALARA principles PACS and RIS operation Basic anatomy and physiology Venipuncture for contrast administration (if applicable) Infection control and universal precautions Equipment quality control checks EMR/EHR documentation Patient assessment and monitoring Communication with providers and nursing staff Emergency response support (e.g., trauma, code situations)
