Job Description

Essentia Health is seeking a casual MRI Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic MRI exams in a patient-centered, team-based environment. In this role, you will assess patients, explain procedures, position and scan using established protocols, and ensure adherence to MRI safety standards. You'll collaborate closely with radiologists and care teams, document exams in PACS/EMR, and assist with scheduling and throughput. Responsibilities Perform high-quality MRI exams following established protocols Verify patient identity, review history, and screen for MRI safety contraindications Explain procedures and provide compassionate care to ensure patient comfort Position patients and operate MRI equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic images Administer contrast agents per protocol and monitor for adverse reactions Document exams accurately in PACS/RIS and electronic medical records Communicate critical findings and technical issues to radiologists and providers Maintain MRI suite cleanliness, stocking, and basic equipment troubleshooting Adhere to radiation safety, infection control, and organizational policies Support teamwork, continuous improvement, and ongoing professional development Required Skills MRI scanning and protocol execution Patient positioning and immobilization Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology MRI safety procedures (Zone I-IV) Use of
PACS/RIS
systems IV insertion and contrast administration Equipment troubleshooting and QA checks Radiation safety and infection control Electronic medical record documentation Communication with radiologists and clinical teams
