Our hospital is equipped with an on-site Canon CT system , allowing our veterinary team to provide advanced diagnostic imaging without requiring patients to be referred elsewhere solely for CT imaging. We are looking for a veterinary technician with strong technical skills and an interest or background in CT, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia, and advanced patient care . Responsibilities Prepare and position veterinary patients for CT examinations Operate and assist with our Canon CT imaging system Follow established CT imaging protocols to obtain high-quality diagnostic studies Assist veterinarians with selection and execution of appropriate imaging protocols Prepare patients for sedation and general anesthesia when required Monitor patients throughout sedation, anesthesia, imaging, and recovery Establish and maintain IV access Prepare and administer contrast agents under veterinarian direction Monitor patient vital signs and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition Maintain accurate medical and imaging records Properly label, organize, transfer, and archive CT studies Perform quality-control checks and identify imaging artifacts or technical problems Maintain CT equipment and imaging areas in accordance with hospital and manufacturer protocols Follow all applicable radiation-safety procedures Work collaboratively with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and other members of the clinical team Assist with general veterinary technician responsibilities when CT procedures are not scheduled
Qualifications Preferred:
2+ years of veterinary technician experience Previous CT or advanced diagnostic imaging experience Experience with Canon CT equipment is highly desirable CVT, LVT, RVT, or equivalent veterinary technician credential preferred Strong anesthesia and patient-monitoring skills Experience with IV catheter placement and contrast administration Knowledge of veterinary anatomy and patient positioning Experience working with canine and feline patients Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety Candidates with significant veterinary anesthesia and diagnostic imaging experience who have not previously operated a Canon CT system are encouraged to apply. Training on our specific CT platform may be provided to the right candidate. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys advanced veterinary medicine and wants to take ownership of the CT workflow. We are particularly interested in a technician who can help us develop consistent imaging protocols, maintain high standards for image quality and patient safety, and help make advanced imaging an integral part of our hospital's services. Compensation $28.00-$42.00 per hour , based on veterinary experience, credentials, anesthesia competency, CT/imaging experience, and demonstrated technical proficiency. Candidates with substantial advanced-imaging and CT experience may be considered at the upper end of the compensation range. Why Westwood?
