Job Summary
Mohawk Valley Health System is hiring a Full Time MRI Technologist, 7 On / 7 Off, Evening Shift.
This position has a Sign On Bonus available up to $10,000! The MRI Technologist will properly and safely operate the Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner to produce high quality images for physicians. Core Job Responsibilities Produce high quality MR images by following the appropriate Radiologist image protocol based on script and patient medical history
Analyze images to ensure accuracy before transferring to a radiologist
Acknowledge significant and critical MR images and handle according to policy and procedure
Position patients following protocols on the table, with proper coil selection, with assistance from qualified staff to lift and place patients on the table
Explain the exam to patients, patient representatives or their families and monitors the patient throughout the entire scan
Create a comfortable space for the patient by adjusting to their needs, such as changing clothes or proper cushioning
Conduct screening interviews of patients to identify contraindications and report as needed prior to entering the scan room
Review relevant patient history questions with the patient to obtain an accurate history, based on the exam they are having done
Intravenously inject contrast dyes based on exam type
Recognize contrast reactions and other medical emergencies and responds to each case according to site policies and procedures Perform treatment room maintenance after each patient to include disposing of medical waste as required by OSHA and keeping a clean environment by changing or wiping down equipment before and after each patient use. Assist staff with researching patient implants and devices to determine MR safety
Monitor MR and medical supplies as needed
Communicate with radiologist about scan protocols, safety information and significant findings
Train tech aides as needed
Rotate with other technologists by taking call, and respond to after hour calls within 30 minutes.
Knowledgeable and up to date on the organizations protocols and procedures that pertain to MRI Technologists Perform other duties as required. Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED
Completion of 2-year Radiologic Technology program or MRI schooling. MR certified within 2 years of employment Licensure/Certification Requirements
