The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of nuclear medicine procedures, with expertise in performing Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Computed Tomography (CT) scans. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, radiation safety, and technical proficiency in operating sophisticated imaging equipment. As a Nuclear PET/CT Technologist, you will play a vital role in diagnostic evaluation, ensuring accurate imaging results that support effective patient treatment plans. Duties Prepare patients for PET/CT procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and verifying patient identification and medical history. Operate PET scanners, CT equipment, and SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) scanners with precision and adherence to manufacturer guidelines. Administer radiopharmaceuticals via IV insertion following aseptic techniques and radiation safety procedures. Perform DEXA scans when required to assess bone density as part of comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. Implement radiation safety protocols diligently to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary exposure. Collaborate with physicians and radiologists to ensure optimal image quality and accurate diagnostic interpretation. Maintain detailed records within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, documenting procedures accurately. Conduct routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of imaging equipment to ensure consistent performance. Adhere to infection control standards through proper aseptic techniques during all procedures. Utilize Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) for image storage, retrieval, and sharing across medical teams. Experience Proven experience operating PET/CT scanners along with familiarity with nuclear medicine procedures and diagnostic radiology principles. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to nuclear imaging modalities. Demonstrated ability to perform IV insertions efficiently while maintaining patient comfort and safety. Strong understanding of radiation safety procedures and implementing protocols to minimize exposure risks. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation of patient information and procedure details. Technical proficiency in operating medical imaging equipment including SPECT scanners and DEXA machines is preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in nuclear medicine technology are advantageous.
