We are seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Recreational Therapy Assistant to join our inpatient hospital team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and using structured activities to promote engagement, healthy coping skills, social interaction, and overall well-being. The Recreational Therapy Assistant will support therapeutic and recreational programming for individuals receiving treatment for mental health and behavioral health conditions. Activities may include arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, group activities, and other structured therapeutic programs. What You'll Do Assist with planning and facilitating recreational and therapeutic activities for patients. Lead and support activities such as arts and crafts, music, exercise, games, and structured group activities. Encourage patients to participate in activities in a positive, respectful, and supportive manner. Assist patients in developing healthy coping skills, social skills, communication, and independence. Observe patient participation, behavior, and response to activities and communicate relevant information to the treatment team. Assist with documenting patient participation and progress as required. Help maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment during activities. Adapt activities to accommodate patients' individual needs, abilities, and interests. Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team. Assist with preparing activity materials, supplies, and therapeutic spaces. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Psychology, Behavioral Health, Occupational Therapy, Human Services, or a related field preferred. Candidates with relevant behavioral or therapeutic backgrounds, including Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), Occupational Therapy Assistants, behavioral therapy professionals, mental health professionals, and those with similar experience are encouraged to apply. Previous behavioral health, mental health, or psychiatric experience strongly preferred. Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to engage patients with compassion, professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm. Creative and comfortable facilitating activities with individuals and groups. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Why Join Our Team?
