Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Director to join a passionate team providing fun and entertainment to our residents and their families. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities tailored to the needs and preferences of individuals with varying abilities, including those with cognitive disabilities. This role is pivotal in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that caters to the diverse interests and abilities of residents. Plan and coordinate events, and recreational activities that encourage participation from all residents. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and support their Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather feedback on activities. Provide support and guidance to staff members in facilitating activities that meet the needs of individuals with disabilities or those requiring long-term care. Monitor resident participation in activities and assess their effectiveness in enhancing overall well-being. Experience Previous experience working with individuals in a long-term care setting or assisted living setting is required. Familiarity with memory care programs is beneficial. Strong event planning skills, with a proven ability to create engaging programs that cater to a diverse population. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. A compassionate approach to care, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions. Background in senior care or nursing home environments is preferred. Competent computer skills with programs such as excel and word.
