Job Description

Overview The Activities Aide plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home environments. This position is responsible for organizing and implementing engaging activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents, particularly those with memory care needs such as Alzheimer's and dementia. The Activities Aide will work closely with the Activities Director and residents to create a vibrant community atmosphere that supports the physical and emotional health of all individuals. Duties Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Plan and coordinate events that foster social interaction and community engagement. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with residents' care plans. Facilitate recreational therapy sessions aimed at improving physical and mental health. Organize outings and excursions that provide residents with opportunities for exploration and enjoyment. Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and assess the effectiveness of programs. Train and supervise staff or volunteers assisting with activities. Provide support to residents with disabilities or special needs during participation in activities. Communicate regularly with families regarding resident involvement in activities. Skills Strong event planning skills to create engaging programs for diverse resident populations. Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings, particularly with memory care or dementia care. Background in recreational therapy or social work is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff. Ability to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed. Proficient in schedule management to ensure a well-organized activity calendar. Knowledge of aging issues counseling to provide appropriate support to residents and their families. Compassionate caregiving approach, demonstrating empathy towards individuals facing cognitive challenges or disabilities. Long-term care experience is beneficial for understanding the unique needs of senior populations. Home & community care experience is a plus for fostering connections beyond the facility.
