Job Description

Job Overview Oakwood Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate, creative, and licensed Recreational Therapist to join our behavioral health team. The Recreational Therapist will develop and facilitate therapeutic recreational activities designed to support the emotional, social, behavioral, and developmental needs of adolescents in a residential treatment setting. The ideal candidate will be energetic, organized, and passionate about helping youth develop healthy coping skills, confidence, social skills, and positive ways to express themselves. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized therapeutic recreation programs. Plan and facilitate recreational, leisure, educational, and therapeutic activities. Use activities to promote social skills, communication, coping skills, self-esteem, and emotional regulation. Assess residents' interests, abilities, strengths, and therapeutic needs. Participate in treatment planning and multidisciplinary team meetings. Document participation, progress, behaviors, and therapeutic outcomes accurately. Modify activities based on individual needs and treatment goals. Facilitate activities such as arts and crafts, music, sports, fitness, games, outdoor activities, life skills, and community-based recreation . Encourage positive peer interaction and appropriate social behavior. Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. Collaborate with therapists, nurses, behavioral health technicians, educators, and other clinical staff. Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field , as required by applicable regulations. Current professional credential/license required for the position. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with adolescents or individuals with behavioral health needs preferred. Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience Residential behavioral health experience Psychiatric or mental health treatment experience Experience working with adolescents Experience developing individualized therapeutic activities Experience with crisis prevention and de-escalation Experience working with youth with emotional or behavioral challenges
Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
