THE POSITION
The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Therapeutic Activities Worker who is ready to bring fresh energy and strong commitment to therapeutic programming. In this role, you help inmates build important skills, develop healthy routines, and make steady progress toward personal goals. You work alongside a dedicated team that values clear communication, careful planning, and dependable support. This position offers meaningful impact, daily engagement, and the opportunity to guide positive change at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports therapeutic recreation services for inmates on specialized housing units and helps ensure that treatment plans meet individual needs. The role strengthens program coordination, enhances inmate engagement, and supports multidisciplinary care. As a Therapeutic Activities Worker, you will perform the following duties:
Program Planning:
Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of individual and group therapeutic recreation programs
Functional Assessment:
Assess inmate strengths, needs, and functioning levels to create therapeutic recreation objectives
Goal Coordination:
Determine methods to meet therapeutic goals and align activities with other treatment disciplines
Activity Facilitation:
Conduct therapeutic recreation sessions, provide instruction and support, and recommend program adjustments
Progress Monitoring:
Review inmate participation, document progress, and prepare required reports and notations
Team Collaboration:
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and offer recommendations to support individualized treatment plans Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding this position can be found in the position description.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday
- Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework:
You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or
A bachelor's degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Other Requirements:
Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
