We are currently seeking a passionate and creative Life Enrichment Program Director to join our team and lead our memory care programming.
Position Overview:
As the Activity Director for Memory Care, you will be responsible for developing and implementing engaging, meaningful activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents. You will work closely with our care team to create a tailored activities promoting social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being. The preferred candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, particularly those with memory care needs, and will possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the unique needs and interests of residents with memory impairments. Assess resident capabilities and preferences to create personalized activity plans. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to ensure a holistic approach to resident care. Facilitate group and individual activities that promote cognitive, physical, and emotional engagement. Organize special events and outings to enhance social connections and community involvement. Facilitate group activities that promote teamwork, creativity, and socialization among residents. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress. Train and supervise activity staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality programming. Evaluate and adapt activities based on resident feedback and changing needs.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in senior care or related fields, such as recreational therapy or social work, is preferred. Strong understanding of memory care principles and dementia care strategies is highly desirable. Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively plan and execute events. Excellent communication abilities to interact positively with residents, families, and team members. Capable of working collaboratively in a team setting while also demonstrating self-motivation. A compassionate approach to caregiving that emphasizes the dignity and respect of each resident. Familiarity with a variety of therapeutic activities that support cognitive function and overall well-being. Creativity and a passion for enhancing the lives of individuals with memory challenges. Certification or training in recreational therapy or related areas is an advantage.
