Job Description

Blaine-Birch Bay Park & Recreation District 2 is seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and community-minded Activity Coordinator to help develop and support programs at the Blaine Community Center. This position will work closely with District staff to coordinate and support a variety of community activities and events, while also providing assistance with senior programming and general coverage of the Blaine Community Center. Position Overview The Activity Coordinator will assist with planning, coordinating, promoting, and facilitating community programs and activities. While the primary focus will be on general community programming, the position will also provide occasional support for senior activities and programs. The Activity Coordinator will also provide front-office and facility coverage at the Blaine Community Center, helping ensure that the center is welcoming, organized, and operating smoothly for visitors, program participants, and renters. Key Responsibilities Assist with planning and coordinating community programs, activities, classes, and special events. Help develop new activities that meet the interests and needs of the local community. Provide occasional assistance with senior programs and activities. Help coordinate program schedules, registrations, supplies, instructors, and facility needs. Assist with promoting programs through flyers, newsletters, social media, and other outreach. Provide office and front-desk coverage at the Blaine Community Center. Greet and assist community members, program participants, instructors, and facility users. Answer phones, respond to basic questions, and provide information about District programs and facilities. Assist with room setup, takedown, and preparation for activities and events as needed. Help monitor activities and ensure programs are conducted in a safe, welcoming, and organized environment. Assist with facility operations and communicate maintenance or operational concerns to appropriate District staff. Work cooperatively with District staff, volunteers, instructors, community partners, and participants. Perform other related duties as assigned. Hours & Scheduling This is a 20-hour-per-week part-time position. Work hours will be flexible and may vary from week to week based on scheduled programs, activities, events, and community center coverage needs. The position may include morning, afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours. The successful candidate must be able to adjust their schedule to provide coverage when programs or events require it. A typical schedule may include a combination of: Office/community center coverage Program preparation and coordination Program and activity hours Special events Occasional evening or weekend activities The Activity Coordinator will work with District staff to establish a weekly schedule based on current programming and facility needs.
Qualifications Preferred qualifications include:
Experience coordinating recreational, community, senior, educational, or social programs. Experience working with the public in a community, recreation, nonprofit, or customer-service setting. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Comfortable working with people of different ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Basic computer skills and familiarity with email, calendars, social media, or Microsoft Office. Ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
